School Groups - INDIA – Nubra Valley & the Lasermo La
A trek from Nubra to the Indus Valley ~ Ride a bactrian camel ~ Breathtaking views of the Karakoram peaks from the Lasermo La ~ Early morning at the magnificent Taj Mahal
6 nights hotels and lodges, 7 nights camping, 7 days trekking, max altitude 5420 m / 17,782 ft.

Grade 8
North of Leh and cut off from the outside world by high passes, the Nubra Valley is one of the special places of the Himalaya. Lying in the shadow of Saser Kangri, this isolated region has traditional ‘Silk Road’ trading links across high passes to Xinjiang Province of China. After acclimatising at Leh, we cross into Nubra where we have the chance to visit Samstaling Monastery. We then trek back into the Ladakh Range, following a seldom-used trail through isolated villages and rugged gorges to reach the Lasermo La (5420m) where the views extend to the peaks of the eastern and central Karakoram. Includes a visit to the Taj Mahal.
Educational perspective
Marmot, fox, bharal (blue sheep) and the amazing lammergeier or bearded vulture are commonly seen. Wolf and snow leopard are also present, but more elusive.
Amend or Extend
Add days for additional project work in Ladakh, or extend the time you spend in the Nubra Valley with a visit to the monastery at Diskit. Or, you could decide to travel overland back to Delhi.
