A new mountain bike holiday adventure in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. By mountain bike is the perfect way to enjoy Central America off the beaten track. Costa Rica is famous for its diversity, and our biking route allows us to explore dry tropical, rain and cloud forest, as well as the distinct volcanoes. Nicaragua, on the other hand, is a very little known bike destination, which makes it all the more desirable. The “nicas”, while every bit as friendly and welcoming as the “ticos”, have a much more lively and vibrant culture, and with the inclusion of two of the New World's best preserved Spanish Colonial cities, Granada and Leon, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the abundant music and general pleasure in life enjoyed in this fabulous country. With biking stages to superb Pacific beaches, a bike loop around Ometepe island (formed by 2 conjoined volcanoes and set in one of the worlds largest lakes), biking through pristine coffee plantations set on rugged volcanic ridges, and a final ride through the Maribos chain “ring of fire”, we enjoy a superb biking holiday in the wonderful countries of Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Ride Guide
FAT TYRE ADVENTURE. Mostly biking on dirt roads and rough backroads, the trip also features some excellent singletrack. Biking on the volcanic slopes presents some interesting technical riding and there are a few challenging ascents to test your stamina. This trip is suitable for mountain bikes fitted with knobbly tyres and for regular riders with a good level of fitness and reasonable off-road skills. Average daily distance - 50km/32 miles.
