Our new mountain bike holiday to the Kaokoland region of Namibia promises to be a really wild cycling adventure. Our biking takes place in the remote north-west corner of Namibia, as we bike between the Skeleton Coast and the Etosha National Park. Very few people bike in the wilderness region of Kaokoland. The area is home to the nomadic Himba tribe and to surprising wildlife including desert elephants,who may just be as surprised too as we bike past them. Our week of biking through this spectacular landscape on little-used dirt roads provides one of the most adventurous biking holidays in Africa. Before returning to Windhoek, we round off this brand-new and exciting bike trip with a day of game driving in search of lions of Etosha.
Ride Guide
SEMI-SLICK ADVENTURE. This trip is suitable for regular and reasonably fit bikers with mountain bikes fitted with semi-slick tyres looking for wildlife encounters in an African wilderness environment. Mainly biking on dirt roads and rough stony roads the riding is not technical. The route is mostly undulating and climbs are few and usually not sustained. The emphasis of this trip is to travel by bike through a remarkable wild area of Africa. Vehicle support always available. Daily cycling distances are modest and with sensible use of vehicle transfers we are able to experience a great deal within a 2 week holiday.Average daily distance 50km/31miles.
