A scenic trekking holiday adventure walking in the Nepal Himalayas and the unspoiled Langtang region. North of Kathmandu (its peaks visible from the capital of Nepal on a clear day) the Langtang Himal is well known for its brilliant trekking and spectacular landscapes. Our journey to explore this accessible and yet unspoiled region of the Nepal Himalayas begins with an exciting drive alongside the Trisuli River to the charming settlement of Syabrubensi. From here, 4 days of blissful trekking take us to the monastery village of Kyanjin, where we have allowed a day for to explore at the junction of the Langtang and Lirung valleys. An option here is trekking to the summit of Tsergo Ri (4984m) for views which include the 8000 metre peak Shisha Pangma. We'll then be walking out via an alternative trekking route through the village of Syabru, which sits high up on the south side of the Langtang valley. From this elevated route, we can look across to the Ganesh Himal and also admire a host of peaks across the border in Tibet. With its fascinating cultural mix and superb views in this part of the Nepal Himalayas, this short trekking adventure holiday ranks amongst the best in Nepal.
Trip Guide
Generally, the trekking conditions on this trip are relatively easy underfoot, following good paths throughout. There are some sections of steep trail during the ascent of the Langtang valley although these are not exposed. It should be noted however, that trekking at altitudes above 3000m. / 10,000ft. makes greater demands on the body than walking at low elevations, and is of itself challenging even for fit hikers. Our itinerary is well staged to allow the best possible acclimatisation but you will need to ensure you are physically prepared for the trek. You should be comfortable with walking for 4 to 6 hours each day and for several days continuously. The optional ascent of Trsergo Ri presents no technical difficulty and should be within the capabilities of fit and active hikers.
