This brand new Thailand family holiday includes a range of experiences sure to captivate youngsters as well as older members of the family. After a day's sightseeing amongst the temples and waterways of Bangkok, we travel by sleeper train to Chiang Mai, the gateway to Thailand's northern hillcountry. In our three days here, we will explore local markets, hike to jungle villages, ride on elephant-back and meet the area's colourful hilltribes. Transferring to the remote and beautiful district of Nan, we will trek on forest trails and make an easy descent of the Nan River by kayak. We will also spend two nights in a village house as guests of the people of Had Pah Khon. Three nights at a beach bungalow on the tropical island of Koh Samet provides a suitably relaxing conclusion to this South East Asian family adventure.

Suitable for children age 6 and up.
With its friendly people and wealth of exotic experiences, Thailand is great for families. Includes some easy hiking, suitable for 6 year olds and above. There is an element of easy trekking in the jungle and while the treks are not long or arduous (maximum of 2 hours) all the family should have some previous experience of easy hiking. The bamboo rafting is on a calm stretch of river and the kayaking on the Nan River is similarly straightforward. During this part of the trip everyone will be wearing helmets and buoyancy jackets. Safety is our main concern here and this part of the trip is led by qualified and experienced river guides and accompanied by safety kayakers. At its best at Easter and Christmas. Summer is also OK - but wet!
