This striking peak, which dominates the southern skyline when viewed from Leh, offers a straightforward and objectively very safe ascent. The summit panorama stretches to K2 and the other big peaks of the Karakoram. This deservedly popular school group expedition combines the special magic of Ladakh, with a great trek and a challenging Himalayan peak.
Educational perspective
Marmot, fox, bharal (blue sheep)and the amazing bearded vulture or lammergeier are commonly seen. Wolf and snow leopard are also present, but more elusive.
Amend or Extend
Returning to Delhi from Leh, one option is to include a visit to Agra and the magnificent Taj Mahal, which can be done without adding to the length of the trip.
