This very exciting trekking holiday, from the delightful Hushe Valley across the Gondoro La (5585m/18320ft.)to Concordia and continuing via the Baltoro Glacier to Askole, is one of the finest high mountain trekking experiences on earth. We travel to the heart of the Karakoram via the Baltistani capital of Skardu and acclimatise in the Masherbrum and Gondokoro valleys where we will be walking to alpine meadow campsites amongst range upon range of starkly beautiful rocky Karakoram peaks. From a high camp below the Gondoro La, we make an early start for the 35-degree snow-slope climb to a dramatic col, which affords simply unforgettable views of K2 (8611m/28245ft.), Broad Peak (8047m/26395ft.), the Gasherbrums and Chogolisa. Walking out from K2 and Concordia, we pass close beneath Masherbrum and the famous Trango Tower. If you are keen to visit K2 and have some experience of winter mountaineering, then this amazing trekking adventure holiday in the Karakoram mountains of Pakistan across the Gondoro La is the way to go.

Trip Guide

This great trek to Concordia via the Hushe Valley and the Gondoro La is one of the most ambitious of our Pakistan departures, traversing a remote mountain pass and including several tough trekking days. We have given this trip the STRENUOUS grade to reflect the sustained nature of the trekking and also to take into account the quite committing pass crossing. Within the time that we have allowed for this expedition, we can comfortably complete the route, allowing plenty of time for acclimatisation and also including a couple of rest days. Our trekking pace in Pakistan is dictated to a great extent by the distances that the porters are prepared to walk and this is usually of the order of four to six hours walking per day. This equates with only 10 to 14 kilometres/6 to 8 miles per day, as walking speed is restricted by the altitude and by the sometimes difficult terrain.
